hi, how can i get drives of all types to display in an ibar, without EFM? i want to automount all devices attached to my system ad hoc, on the fly, and display them on the desktop. Puppy has the Desktop Drive Icons Manager. Is there some way to integrate that with Enlightened? i can imagine a scripted solution, but would rather not get into that. thanks! Have you tried the E17 Places Module (http://code.google.com/p/e17mods/wiki/Places)? It is in the SVN at trunk/E-MODULES-EXTRA/places. Or if you use easy_17.sh (http://omicron.homeip.net/projects/#easy_e17.sh ) it is in e_modules_extra package list. For me places works very well, and I do have it in an IBar. You can set Places to open the file manager of your choice, so you don't have to use EFM if you don't want to. The only issue I have is that every time I restart e the size of the Places gadget very very small (as small as possible?) and I have to resize it make Places useful. Annoying, but worth it. Yeah, places do the trick very nice. I use it as a gadget in the desktop itself and never saw that behaviour It also handles automount and you can assign your own filemanager (i choose dolphin) 2011/9/5 Donald Brewster Harden, Jr. <ha...@gs...> > > Have you tried the E17 Places Module ( > http://code.google.com/p/e17mods/wiki/Places)? Places sounded pretty interesting, so I just tried building it. I'm using e17 version 63217. places appears to compile and install without any problem, but after I load the module and try to place the gadget on my desktop, all I see is an empty box. I can move the box around the desktop, but when I right click to try and configure it the box disappears. The summary in places build shows it wrote 2 collections in edje/collections/0 and 1, 8 images, 0 fonts. Any ideas? I've found that places doesn't work nice with LVM.....try pluggin an usb dongle and see if something pops in. Also, check the deps at build time.....probably you need e_dbus and some hal libraries El 5 de septiembre de 2011 19:23, mh <mh...@me...> escribió: > Places sounded pretty interesting, so I just tried building it. It seems that ( http://code.google.com/p/e17mods/wiki/Places, http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-873651-start-0.html ) HAL is required for places to work. Don't know for sure, how it appears though. SeoZ, do you also have HAL? I have e_dbus and eeze installed, but not hal. Debian is in the process of deprecating hal in favor of udev. When I run autogen.sh from places it checks (among other things) for e, edge and e_dbus. autogen.sh runs ok and generates a make file that compiles and installs without complaint. Places shows up in module settings and I loaded it there. But when I try to add it from gadgets, I get just a blank box. I did try to connect a usb flash drive, that was seen with thunar and pcmanfm, but still nothing with places. I tried installing hal to the debian system, unloaded the places module, deleted /usr/local/lib/enlightenment/modules/places, re-run autogen.sh, make install but still same results. Didn't mention before, but this is amd64 in case that's the issue. I'm stuck. Fresh Debian amd64 install, installed e from svn. Everything appears to compile and install properly. One difference I noticed is that when e finished compiling/installing in the past there was a note about setting environmental variables. I don't see that, the compile just completes. When I start e from /usr/local/bin/enlightenment_start, the initial splash screen starts (with the bouncing dots) and the Language preference comes up. I can select between default and English but pressing enter doesn't do anything, and there is no button at the bottom for moving to the next screen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |

I think what might help me to troubleshoot is knowing that when e compile and install is successful that the not about environmental variables still appears. I just selected everything in /usr/local, deleted trunk, ~/.e, and ran the build script from the enlightenment website again and got the same results when I tried to start e. I've installed e previously on the hardware without this kind of problem. Can't find anything with google on this problem. Any hints at all? > I'm stuck. > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Doing More with Less: The Next Generation Virtual Desktop > What are the key obstacles that have prevented many mid-market businesses > from deploying virtual desktops? That happens sometimes. I forget exactly what was missing, but all I did was to go through the recommended requirements on enlightenment's download page and I found one that was missing. I still didn't see the environmental message I expected, but maybe that has changed. Still don't know about that. |
