Being independent of gnome doesn't mean you can't run gnome apps... it means
it is independent of it, has nothing to do with it. I don't think e is going
to monitor every process that is started and see if its linked to any of the
gnome project libs and then kill them if they are, or practice any other
means of not "letting you" run gnome apps.
By the same token it is independent of KDE as well. raster doesn't care what
you run, he's just not gonna weigh e17 down with support for stuff you don't
need (esp when running e), and if he does eventually, expect it to be
optional, default off... heck, why not make it a ./configure flag (default
off)... it could be --shoot-myself-in-foot.
