Hi, it's the first time I'm using a mailing list so I hope do everything right & this is the right mailing-list. I've got a suggestion for a new feature in E. It would be great if there would be a zooming-feature in the iconbox like in the pager. When you move your mouse-pointer above a iconified app, the icon (snapshot, user application icon or Enlightenment icon) increases its size. Wouldn't that be great? In this day and age, I don't see any issue of doing something like decoding an ogg encoded sample file "one the fly", but also maybe providing a decode sample cache - ie 1Mb (or any Mb) of "previous decoded" pcm audio data, that avoids re-decoding very often used audio data. You want to keep the samples on disk as ogg/mp3 etc. imho you want more than just pumping out samples if an event happens 0 being able to move the sound from left to right speaker as the window is dragged across the screen from left to right for example.... but you need an abstract mechanism to feed this kind of data to the sound sample "hooked" to the event (the window move) and a way of relating on screen geometry to audio parameters (left/right audio volume). (this is just an example). you also need to be able to specify how to repeat a sample (loop, ping-pong etc.)... it gets rather complex if you want to do it well :) -- ------------- Codito, ergo sum - "I code, therefore I am" -------------- The Rasterman (Carsten Haitzler) raster@... 裸好多 raster@... thanks /Kim. I to think there needs to be a user_defined.cfg of some sort, that is read before a theme's *.cfgs are. This only makes sense. Whether or not this is something that needs to be addressed right away is up to the team. I personally think that it should be addressed right away to lay some foundation for EFL developers and what they do as per this hypothetical user_defined.cfg. At anyrate there are my two cents ^_^ stderr On Thu, 30 Sep 2004 20:10:45 -0700, enlightenment-devel-request@... <enlightenment-devel-request@...> wrote: > Send enlightenment-devel mailing list submissions to > enlightenment-devel@... >=20 > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/enlightenment-devel > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > enlightenment-devel-request@... >=20 > You can reach the person managing the list at > enlightenment-devel-admin@... >=20 > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of enlightenment-devel digest..." >=20 > Today's Topics: >=20 > 1. Certainly raster. I find sound support a all to oftenly ignored aspect of destop manager and or window manager design. I come from a musical background and know for one that this sort of coding can get really ugly, mainly since it deals with not so small file types. I wonder what people would prefer in a sound daemon and or lib; fast loads via memory use, or slow load and little memory use? stderr On Wed, 29 Sep 2004 20:17:48 -0700, enlightenment-devel-request@...
