 The patch seems to be working, bringing the focus behaviour back to what I am used to.

 rm -rf $HOME/.enlightenment
 startx
 
 open up the focus settings dialog, and choose "focus follows mouse settings" and "all new windows first get the focus"

 ctrl+alt+insert to bring up Eterm
 
 execute an application (gqview 1.3.2 for example) by typing its name inside Eterm

 ctrl + alt + x  to close gqview

 and the keyboard is gone. Alt-tab or alt-shift-"cursor keys" does not work. Using mouse brings things back to normal.

 
 Tried with different kind of programs and it looks like this happens on gnome programs and (gnome free) gtk programs. Running xterm does not bring this up for example.

 Enlightenment seems to be working fine. I have fx ripples working normally at this state, it does not stop.


 I am currently using pre8 with your patch, will try to hit any trouble about this, if there is more.

I think you got a good point. In the end, the epplets from the sf page
turned out to be more fruitful. But I add to install a lot of devel
packages. Thanks for the initial clue.

CVS is supposed to be more up-to-date! I tried with the epplet base but I
got some other compilation errors. So I decided to go into CVS.

epplet.h:17:19: Imlib.h: No such file or directory
epplet.h:31:21: GL/glut.h: No such file or directory

those errors should kind of clue you in ...

why are you using epplet's from cvs ?  why not use the epplet-base from the=
=20
release page on sf ?

Normally, this is vert straightforward:

1. Download from cvs, by the following commands
cvs
-d:pserver:anonymous@...:/cvsroot/enlightenment
login

cvs -z3
-d:pserver:anonymous@...:/cvsroot/enlightenment
co e16/epplets

2. then when you have it in your box, you do a 

sh autogen.sh, followed by make and make install (and a e_gen_menu
something afterwards).


But I got a problem at the "make" part in RedHat 9. I attached an error
log. Can anybody tell me what's wrong with the building process? The
epplets doesn't build cleanly on RedHat 9. Thanks for any help provided.
