Patrick, thanks for 1.4prerelease which worked, but new versions of Enigmail including 1.4 (all released after you gave me that version which worked) still can't decrypt messages for me.
Effects are the same, and the version you gave me quickly became outdated and isn't working with new MT versions :(
Tell me how can I help with debugging if you wish.

ooops, I'm sorry, It seems I posted a problem I noticed some time ago and didn't test it right before posting.
Now it's working fine. Sorry for distracting.
Currently MT 17.0 & Enigmail 1.4.6 → It works.
But most the way throughout (until MT 16 IIRC) it didn't work, messages mst have been decrypted manually.
It doesn't matter now, as it works. Thanks again :)

Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem, running Thunderbird 17.0.7 and Enigmail version 1.5.1 (20130205-0013) under Windows 7 64 bit. I tried the add on provided at the end of http://www.enigmail.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=583, but it would not install with the current Thunderbird.
Any help gratefully received?

Nicholas sent me a mail with the message in question attached.
The message is not a PGP/MIME message, even though it almost looks like one. The problem is that the main content-type is "multipart/mixed", while PGP/MIME requires the following content-type (as defined in RFC 3156): multipart/encrypted; protocol="application/pgp-encrypted"
There is nothing I could do to fix this; Thunderbird does currently not allow add-ons to intercept multipart/mixed messages

I am having this same problem with TBird 17.0.8 and Enigmail 1.5.2
A message created with TBird PGP/MIME set on comes in as multipart/mixed, not multipart/encrypted. Is there some way to force TBird to send the message with the right setting?

Which version of Thunderbird and Enigmail do you use now precisely?

You could try version 1.5.2 from our website (www.enigmail.net), but I doubt that this would help.
If possible, please attach the message, or alternatively send the message to me (patrick AT enigmail DOT net).

There is nothing that can be done in this case.
