I tested adele on ubuntu.
When i try to answer, i cant find a button on the email to import adeles public key,
for encryption the message.
But the public key is inside the open key box. If i go on the menu then thunderbird crashes
Thunderbird crashes always if i open a answer window and go on the enigma menu on my screen.
Whats wrong here?

Hi,
no it doesnt. Thunderbird works fine. Its happens just in time, when i go to
answer. When i open the reply window and activate the menu then the crash happens.
There is no fail on other menus and no fail totally without the reply window.
Thanks for your fast answer. After the crash i get a crash window from thunderbird with
some messages in there. I have copied that in a txt-file in this attachement.
Hi,
Enigmail has been upgraded to (Running Enigmail version 2.1.5 (20191231-1524)
Where I can find the crash ID.
I have submitted the whole thunderbird crash report.

I have submitted the whole thunderbird crash report.
The report data you attached does provide enough information to identify the crash.
But I see in the report file that you're using the addon "Messaging Menu" which integrates Thunderbird into the Ubuntu Unity Desktop. I suspect that this is the source of the problem - and that's not part of Thunderbird, nor Enigmail.
Please try what happens if you disable that add-on.

-I am not able to disable that add on. I cant find it.
Where is it???
Enigmail is listed as an extension in firefox. The
version there is 2.1.2 . What happens here when i try to
encrypt my emails?

I don't use Ubuntu - I can only guess. If it's not visible in the addons then you may need to uninstall it via the Ubuntu package manager. But as I said - I suggest you rais such questions on the Ubuntu Forums or bugtracker.

Furthermore, the crash report mentions the addon messagingmenumozilla.com. I searched for that and it serves to integrate Thunderbird into the Unity desktop.

This looks like a bug in Thunderbird. Does Thunderbird not crash if you open any other menu (for example Tools, or Edit) in the answer window?

Please first upgrade to Enigmail 2.1.5 (you seem to still use Enigmail 2.1.2, which contains a number of known issues).
Then, submit the crash to Mozilla and let me know the crash ID. I'll have to check with the Thunderbird people what's going on and why.

The crash IDs are available via Menu Help -> Troubeshooting Information.
Search for Crash in the window that opens.

Thunderbird crashes during responding
I'm sorry, but I was busy with other stuff - Enigmail is not my job.
I checked the crash report, and as far as I can tell, this is an Ubuntu-specific crash. I would report this on the Ubuntu bugtracker.
I don't understand what you wrote:
That's not possible - Enigmail is a Thunderbird extension.
What is your question here? Do you know how encryption works?

It depends on the desktop environment (Gnome, KDE, Cinnamon, etc.), not Distribution (Ubuntu, Arch, etc.) Assuming Gnome:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/293328/how-to-remove-messaging-menu-and-unity-launcher-integration-from-thunderbird#293355
I'd rather mv than rm, but you should also be able to switch it off temporarily using https://extensions.gnome.org/
The crash report says:
_Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTSFP(D00-L1100-W00000000-T000) WR? WR- OMTP? OMTP+3 _
Furthermore, the crash report mentions the addon messagingmenumozilla.com. I searched for that and it serves to integrate Thunderbird into the Unity desktop.
Thanks to you both Olav and Patrick.
Hope i get it with the new desktop.
