    I try importing my keys from another server. When I select the zip file I see the above message and a progress indicator but it never finishes. Currently it has been running for about four hours. How can I get past that?

    I forgot - I am using Thunderbird 60.0 on FreeBSD 11.2

    Don't try to import a .zip, but a .asc or .gpg . Nevertheless, you should get an error message when trying to import an arbitrary file. You may want to open a bug for that if you can reproduce this (even with different files?).

    Well, TB exports a zip file so I assumed that the import would take the same file. In any case, I unzipped it and tried to import the only asc file (keyring.asc) and it said "The specified file is not a valid Enigmail Settings backup file."

    There are two instructions to transfer keys;

    1. Export your data from your old computer using the backup wizard from the EnigmailPreferences
    2. Import the data to your new computer using this wizard

    Hard to see how that can be mis-interpreted. Step 1 created a zip file.

    Sorry, I was misled. I didn' t realize you're using the EM export/import function. I never used it, always do it 'the old-fashioned' way ;-)

    Sure, you should be able to import the ZIP you created with Enigmail on one machine to import it on another.

    Are you using the latest Enigmail release? If not, please update. If so, please provide a log: That's available from the Enigmail menu 'Debugging' - you may save it there. In order to focus on just your issue, please close TB (and make sure it is), (re)start it, just do the import, wait for 1 min., then export the log.

    Is there a resolution to this problem? I can't get past it.
    Linux Mint 19.1
    thunderbird 60.4.0 32bit
    enigmail 2.0.8

    We can't really help you without more details. Please follow the advice given by Olav in the last paragraph. See here for how to create a debug log file: https://enigmail.net/index.php/en/faq-en?view=topic&id=15

    You know what, I'm gonna backtrack on this. My keys were imported even though the wizard never completed.
