    Hello,

I am a beginner in the subject of security and I started to perform some tests with GnuPG, Enigmail and Thunderbird.
I have a Windows 8.1 PC with a Linux Ubuntu virtual machine and my goal is to send an encrypted email from the Ubuntu PC to the Windows PC. For this, I installed the 3 programs mentioned above in both and did the following:

    • Generated a pair of keys in my Windows PC.
    • Generated a pair of keys in the Ubuntu VM (although I will not use them right now).
    • I sent an email from the Windows machine to the Ubuntu VM with the public key.
    • I saved the public key in my Ubuntu VM Documents folder.

Now, I want to import the public key using "Key Management" in Ubuntu VM but I do not see this option.
"Key Management" in the Windows PC shows a menu at the top containing "File, Edit, View, Keyserver and Generate" options, but Ubuntu VM does not show this menu and I cannot find a way to display it.

Version of Enigmail is 1.9.6.1 in both installations.

I will very much appreciate your feedback.

    Respectfully,
    Jorge Maldonado

Sorry, I can't help you much, as I'm on Mac OS X and sometimes on Windows. From my understanding, Linux and Windows have the menues on the top of the window and Mac on the top of the screen, so you experience looks like some kind of installation issue to me. But, as said, I have no experience on Linux.

Maybe someone else can step in and provide help.

I just found how to view the menu on top of the "Key Management" window.
I just need to hover the mouse over the top of such a window and it appears.
My issue is that I am also new to Linux (Ubintu).

    Regards.

Glad that you found a solution. Linux has many different desktops and window managers, it's quite difficult to know them all. Sometimes it may be better for Linux users to seek support in your distribution's support forums or mailing lists, because they know their specific system far better. Just in case you have another issue :-)
