Why does Enigmail 2.0.9 not support Thiunderbird below 60.x?

I have an issue, and as usual, tried to fix it by updating my software, but the newest Enigmail (2.0.9) only supports TB from 60.x. Why is this? I need to stay on TB 53.x because some of my essential addons won't work on 60.x and above.

Could you please make Enigmail work with TB 53.x?

1. The latest changes contain code that does not run on Thunderbird 52.
2. You are using a Thunderbird version that does not get updates anymore (i.e. it's not maintained anymore). Why do you expect an addon to be maintained for a no longer maintained base product?
3. Maintaining an addon is not free. The differences between TB 52 and TB 60 are quite substanital and if I'd want to support TB 52, I'd also have to test all of Enigmail for TB 52. I'm sorry, but I will not do this for a product that is no longer supported.
