Hello
I am using enigmail 2.1.5 and thunderbird 68.4.1 with a pure smime setup. Since I have found no way to store smime encrypted mails decrypted on my local drive I came across enigmail what seems to be able to handel smine mails too.
I have used enigmail in the past with no problem for gpg. The current setup ONLY has smime certificates and an installed enigmail. I can uses the enigmal buttons to sign and encrypt mail.
The only thing what is not working is automatically via a filter (or manually) decrpting to a local folder. I have checked the console and the protokoll for errors, nothing what I could clearly identify as related. -- But I might have overseen the hint since there is quite a bit of messages..
Do I need to switch one more flag? Did I miss something? Any idea? The goal at the bottom line is to save a smime encrypted mail unencrypted to a local folder.
Thanks a lot for any hint!
Michael

I'm sorry, but Enigmail does not do S/MIME encryption/decryption at all. All that Enigmail does is to enable/disable S/MIME encryption on behalf of Thunderbird in the message composition dialog. Apart from that, Enigmail is not involved into S/MIME.

Thank you very much, for this information
So I hope that the upcomming support of s/mime within Thunderbird supports this
S/Mime is part of Thunderbird since the very first days. Nothing will change if OpenPGP will be integrated in Thunderbird.
