How to prevent enigmail from signing mails as a standard behaviour

Since a couple of weeks ago enigmail suddenly wants to sign every mail, I send, and asks every time for the pin of my key.

How can I tell enigmail to sign and/or encrypt mails only, if I select this individually, and not vice versa? (Now I have to switch off for every mail the signing function individually before sending).

I have searched everything multiple times and didn't find anything matching this...
