I have trouble decrypting mail attachments with Enigmail. I found several similar topics on the forum, but nothing quite the same.
A friend and me have established email encryption between us. We're both on Macs (10.9.3). He uses the actual Apple Mail.app, I use Thunderbird 24.5 with Enigmail 1.6 and GPG Tools (GPG Keychain 1.1.3). PGP/MIME is activated.
When I send him an encrypted message with attachment, he receives and decodes everything perfectly, even including the german special characters (umlaute).
But when he sends me an encrypted message with attachment, I can only read the main text (regrettably, the umlaute get lost and are replaced by nonsense characters). I can't decrypt the attachment.
His messages are always composed by to attached files, the "PGPMIME Versions Identification" and the "encrypted.asc" which contains the encrypted mail, including the attachment. I've set Thunderbird to display attachments in its main window, so I can see the content. The attachment is obviously contained, as the .asc file gets much longer when he attaches something to his mail. Also, I find within the text things like this:
So the attachments do arrive, they just don't get decrypted by Enigmail. If I right-click on the .asc file and choose "decrypt and save", he will save it, but still not decrypt.
If anyone has an idea about solving this problem, I'd be very grateful...

We would need the MIME structure of such a mail to tell more. You can forward (please forward as attachment) to me ludwig at enigmail dot net.
