Hello i am a noob and want to start using PGP.
i installed in this order the following programs:

Every time I install Enigmail via .xpi file OR via Thunderbird, I have the problem that the pep-json-server.exe crashes periodically.

(Reinstalled tested all programms several times with Antivirus Programm on and off)

I believe that the pep-json-server.exe is not compatible with your Operating System. I'd recommend you go to menu Tools > Options, switch to the Privacy tab, and select Force using S/MIME and Enigmail.

That will disable the pEp mode, and switch you to the "classical" Enigmail mode. You can then go to menu Enigmail > Setup Wizard that will guide you through setting things up.

    Thank you its working.

    1) Do I have any functional or safety deficiencies when using this method?

    1.1) Yes > Efail S/MIME https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EFAIL

    2) It would be helpful to add the information that Windows 7 is not fully supported at the Engimail download homepage

    1) No
1.1) S/MIME is part of Thunderbird, and neither pEp nor Enigmail not support it
    2) AFAIK, Windows 7 SP2 is the minimum required version for pEp. But pEp is an external component to Enigmail, just like GnuPG. I won't speak for either of them.
