    Hi all

    I am on Ubuntu 16.04, latest installed gpg2 is 2.1.11, Thunderbird 52.7 and Enigmail 2.0.2 (20180411-1619)

I have search the net for guide how to upgrade gpg2 from 2.1.11 to some version that will work, but sorry to say have not found any useful guide that tell how to do this properly.

Can you please point me to instructions how to do this?

    Thank you.

    I recommend upgrading to ubuntu 18.04. It has a non-ancient gpg2 (2.2.4)
gpg (in the form of gpgv) and its llibraries are core parts of the system - hard to replace and if you break gpgv, you risk breaking package installation
