Hi,
I generated a keypair and tested successfully with Adele. Now, I want to change or remove the comment. Is there any way to do that or do I have to delete the whole keypair ?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
You cannot modify user IDs or change comments. The OpenPGP standard doesn't allow to do this in order to prevent for the following scenario:
Imagine I would know you and sign your key. You would then modify the user ID that I signed to somebody else and hand over the key to that person. Now my signature, where I certified that I checked your identity, would be for a person I don't know. The signature would not be worth anything.
Therefore you cannot modify the user ID. The comment is unfortunately not a field on its own but just a part of the user ID.
But you can add a new identity and (if you did not yet upload your key to a keyserver) remove the old identity containing the comment.
