I am not able to find/import a key using Thunderbird OpenPGP. The key exists (0x4EFC7951) and I can find it by searching pgp.mit.edu directly. However, searching for it within the "Open PGP Key Management" tool, selecting pgp.mit.edu through "Select Keyserver" yields the message:
gpg: requesting key 4EFC7951 from hkp server pgp.mit.edu
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
Same is true for request for this key through every other keyserver available in menu, e.g.:
gpg: requesting key 4EFC7951 from ldap server certserver.pgp.com
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
gpg: keyserver internal error
gpg: keyserver receive failed: Keyserver error
I am entering the key correctly, I think (e.g. with 0x prefix). Same is true if I attempt to refresh the sender's key from the e-mail message interface (which is where I see the message "Unverified signature; click on 'Details' button for more information").
Any advice?

Danke Ludwig! Great advice. I used the server pool you suggested and it came up immediately. (I am still a bit confused as to why i could see the key if I went directly to pgp.mit.edu website, but not from the same site from within Thunderbird's OpenPGP tools, but at least I know how to make the search process more efficient now)

I cannot find any difficulty in getting key 0x4EFC7951 from pgp.mit.edu:
gpg: fordere Schlüssel 4EFC7951 von hkp-Server pgp.mit.edu an
gpg: Schlüssel 4EFC7951: Öffentlicher Schlüssel "Gus Hosein <gus (at)privacyinternational.org="">" importiert
(...)
gpg: Anzahl insgesamt bearbeiteter Schlüssel: 1
gpg: importiert: 1 (RSA: 1)</gus>
Your difficulties may be due to a server downtime or a network problem.
Trying to get the same key from ldap://certserver.pgp.com did result in a timeout. It is not reachable at all.
Generally: Please do not use a single server. Availablilty is much better when using a server pool, e.g. pool.sks-keyservers.net.
