Enigmail 1.5.1 blocks smtp connection in Thunderbird 17.0.5 on Windows 7x64 ultimate with Gpg4win 2.1.1-34299

Worked fine signing and encrypting messages on Thunderbird 15. After upgrading to Thunderbird v17.0.5, Thunderbird would time out attempting to transmit messages. Thunderbird could save messages to the drafts folder; but it could not transmit a message. I confirmed by saving a message as a draft, logging into chrome/gmail, selecting the draft message, then sending the message via chrome/gmail.

Problem goes away after I disable Enigmail. I've tried re-installing without success.

Ideas?

  Enigmail is not involved in the sending process,. Your problem can be anything, but certainly not Enigmail.
