I am using enigmail with gnupg on Xubuntu for quite a while now, yet more or
less sporadically. I therefore cannot determine, when my problems first occurred:

I recently decided to sign my mails by default (without PGP/MIME). This
works for all plain text messages flawlessly. However, when there is one or more
attachments, it only succeeds sometimes (which is probably the worst).
When additionally encryption is requested, it seems to work also with
    attachments and encrypts them individually.

The error message I get is: "Send operation aborted. An unknown error has occured"
in the debug log I found the error:
"2013-03-13 14:23:51.066 [ERROR] subprocess.jsm: got error from stdinWorker:
expected type int, got (void 0)"
The console output indicates, that signatures for the message and all
    attachments could be generated successfully.

I tried to change the filename(s), tried different attachments, sizes,
recipients, senders. Eventually, it works after many tries but I cannot determine the true reason.

I hope, enigmail can benefit from this description.

    Sebastian.

Can you attach a complete debug log file? Which version of Enigmail do you use precisely?

    I am using
    Enigmail version 1.5.1 (20130205-0013)
    with Thunderbird 17.0.4
    and GnuPG 1.4.11
    on Xubuntu 11.10

debug file attached. To generate the file I started a new message, inserted a dummy subject and dummy text and attached a png file (1.1MB). When I hit send, the above error appeared.

Yes, I think this points to quite a low-level bug. A scenario I didn't foresee.
