Is there any way to prefetch public keys for encryption from public key servers for addresses in an addressbook, an address list and/or for senders that have signed a message once (and therefore might provide a public key), because searching keys still is time consuming and annoying.

Yes, this is implemented: menu OpenPGP > Key Management. This will open a new window. From there click on menu Keyserver > Find keys for all contats.
