i#m new to enigmail. I'm running enigmail-2.0.12-r1 on a gentoo box together with thunderbird version 60.9.0 (64-bit). Eingmail works fine, I#ve generated the key-pair and received my first encrypted mails.
Right now I'm struggling wth an encrypted attachement. Right click opens the menu entry "Decrypt and Open". Decryption works again, but unfortunately wine is started and after that notepad to view the decrypted file. This is really strange. I did not find a way to change this behaviour.
My Attachement-Preferences are attached. Can I change this behaviour?
This is not about a "PGP/MIME encrypted message header". Enigmail first decrypts the attachment, and then asks Thunderbird to open the decrypted file. The application to open depends on the name of the decrypted attachment. For example if the file is .txt , then a text/plain handler should be used.
I'm not sure how the Thunderbird function I'm using determines the handle for a certain file type. I know that mime.types plays a role. The dialog that you showed may or may not be used.

Many thanks, your hint was valuable ;-) the .txt extension didn't show up in my Attachement-Preferences dialog. I found the hint, that i can't add it directly to the dialog. Instead I send me an email with an txt-file attached, right clicked to open it and choose my wanted application to open it. This added an txt-extension entry to the dialog. Now "Decrypt and Open" opens up with gvim .... ;-) since the decrypted file has an .txt ending ;-)
