In Enigmail 2.0.8 it's possible for users to reject an update to a new p≡p version: an Enigmail version 2.0.9 should be shipped anytime soon which ensures no-one is still using p≡p distribution 1.0.23 with Windows, either by accepting updating to a newer p≡p distribution or by making clear to the user he/she's now having the Enigmail/p≡p mode disabled.

To be quite clear: updating Enigmail is by no means better than updating pep. If people don't install the update then they don't profit from the update. If that's pep or Enigmail doesn't matter. Therefore the software that is faulty should be fixed - a workaround in another tool is not a solution but a hack.
