After saving an encrypted mail in Thunderbird the resulting .eml file can be opened but not decrypted. There is no decrypt button in the toolbar and the entry Enigmail > Decrypt/Verify in the menubar does nothing.

Clearly I should be able to decrypt a saved email, shouldn't I?

The Thunderbird APIs for *.eml files are reduced compared to the APIs available for "regular" mail. Enigmail is therefore not triggered by Thunderbird and thus the message cannot be decrypted or verifiied. The only solution is to copy the mail back to a Thunderbird folder (e.g. drag & drop the mail to a TB folder, or use Message > Copy to > folder).

Marking as won't-fix as this a) needs to be fixed an Thunderbird and b) if it would be fixed in Thunderbird, it would not require any change to Enigmail.
