For me, the option to attach one's own public key is always greyed out (button and menu).

Do you have an active key pair (i.e. public and secret key, not revoked, not expired)?

    • Patrick Schönbach

      Yes.

Did you specify a key ID in the account settings, or do you rely on the email address for getting the correct key? (Edit > Account Settings > OpenPGP Security).

    • Patrick Schönbach

      Relying on the email address.

  • Ludwig Hügelschäfer

Would you please enter the key-Id (this is the recommended way) and test again?

Do you have more than one key pair with the same address?

    Thanks!

Still greyed out and only one key pair in the keyrings.

Did you configure the OpenPGP options for ALL your identities? Supposing 0x0B7DDE39 is your key, these are quite a few.

    • Patrick Schönbach

Ok, in this case it works. However, shouldn't it also work if one relies on the email address?

  • Ludwig Hügelschäfer

Yes, it should (though not recommended). I changed the description and leave this bug open.

Attaching the key is only enabled, if a specific key is configured in the account settings. Using the email address is too often not precise enough, such that a wrong key would be attached.

Why is it not precise enough?
When signing an email, Enigmail has to decide for one (private) key. And then it can attach the same (public) key.

  • Patrick Brunschwig

You can have more than one pair of keys with the same email address. Enigmail should not decide automatically, which key to take.
