Ok, after more tests I can tell you that the error you get is due to
a bun in mplayer 1.0rc1. The bug whows up if you make vcd and svcd
(but apparently not dvd) with bframes. Until a fix if found, you can make 
vcd/svcd without bframes in Mpeg Mode. Or use 1.opre8.
