#63 Files appear as read-only for MS Excel

After upgrading to 0.10.4 I cannot edit XLS files directly on mounted drive - MS Excel 2016 says the file is read-only. I can edit the file on the local drive and copy it to mounted drive afterwards, so nor the file or drive are read-only. But Excel does not like it somehow. When I've downgraded back to 0.10.3 everything works fine again.
Using Win10 64bit and the volume was originally created on Linux long time ago.

I can confirm that this is happening to me as well. I shifted several documents into the encrypted volume and regularly encounter this read-only problem. Files affected include doc, xls, pdf, quicken database, other personal databases, and more. Generally, I can just copy the file to my desktop and then back into the encrupted volume. At that point, it will start working again. I think I will try to downgrade to 0.10.3 in the mean time as you suggest.

Using 0.10.3 now. Things seems to be working fine although the "Assert failure at f:/Projects/encfsMP/src/encfs/RawFileIO.cpp:257 -- true == canWrite" issue seems to have popped up for one of the files that originally caused me issues. This was fixed with 0.10.4 I believe. It does leave me wondering if all the files I originally copied into the encrypted volume some how managed to get a read-only bit flip... Windows doesn't show that as the case in the props for these files though...

Weird. Sticking with 0.10.3 for now.

Gah. The "Assert failures" are too pervasive. And one PDF was corrupted. I decided to go back to 0.10.4. I still have read-only issues that are hard to combat.

Opened a PDF with Nitro PDF. Editted it. Tried to save and permission complaints... ><

Please retest with version 0.10.5. Unfortunately I don't own MS Office, so I can't reproduce the error.

So far it seems to work fine, thank you. If there's any way to help you testing coexistence with MS Office, just let me know.

You can close the ticket, no problems after upgrading to 0.10.5.
