Same problem here. Makes the great software unuseable. Just a simple renaming of a folder provokes that error. Has anybody an idea how to fix that problem? The only solution I found is to copy the files and folders out of the encrypthed order, rename it or what else ... and copy it back to the EncFSMP drive.

Regarding the second point: I finally (!) upgraded from Win7 to Win10, and the problem of timestamps that can't be modified seems to have gone away. Perhaps the code that handles it uses some Win10-specific API call? For the record, I'm still using the stable version 0.11.1.

Unfortunately, EncFSMP currently does not support multithreading. Every "Mount" has its own thread however, so if you have several mounts and perform operations on them EncFSMP will use more than one core.

I just wanted to say thank you to Julian Brooke, above, as I had the same issue and panicked like crazy. Thanks soooooooooooo much for posting the solution to this. Simply typing in the name of the folder I had originally created and encrpyted with this software, upon selecting it to mount, was all that was needed! Whew!

I just checked with Process Monitor, there is no lock file being written or read. Are you sure you don't have another instance running? Maybe at startup?

I reboot my computer several times, but I already have the same message "Another instance is already running..." and can't use EncfsMP. I uninstalled/reinstall it, same thing... Where is lock file stored ?. Thanks for your help

On Windows, wxSingleInstanceChecker creates a mutex, see here: https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/blob/master/src/msw/snglinst.cpp A reboot will delete it, maybe even logout/login will do.

@Oliver, Registry editing is not required; I just found out that an edit of all saved mounts and disable the "Enable caching:". option resets that registry setting for you. You can later on set that again if required. I had the same problem as you, so thanks for your message that put me on the right track in resolving the issue for me.

Solved for me! Edit the value in the reg. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\hiesti.ch\EncFSMP\MountList\MountEntryX] "EnableCaching"=dword:00000001 was wrong!

If you install a new version (0.99.1) over the old version (0.11.1), after entering the password, the program closes completely. If you delete and reinstall the program, it gives an error as described here https://sourceforge.net/p/encfsmp/tickets/97/

Did you try to uninstall and again install EncFSMP? It looks like PFM is not installed properly.

I own Lenovo Miix2-8 and cleaninstalled Windows10 1809 32bit. After that, I installed EncFSMP, it does not run. For only a few second its window opens, and closes without saying. What should I do?

Hi, I wondered if anyone had tried running encfsmp in a virtual machine? I've been experimenting and any file deletion (delete or move) appears to bluescreen both in Virtualbox (on a mac) and in a hosted desktop which is server2012 in vmware. I do not get this problem if I run it on a standard w10 installatiom so it appears to be ralated to the virtualisation.

A symbolic link is when I create a link to a file. The system thinks that this is not a link, but a real file. Simply put, this is a shortcut, but the system thinks it is a real file. this seems to be fixed very elegantly in the latest 0.99 version everything works even if the encrypted files (on OneDrive) are not currently on the local drive - they get requested in the background and downloaded as needed (in the same way this feature works for unencrypted files). Brilliant

Hi, I've an issue sometime mouting a local path. I select my crypt folder and then press "mount" button and I'm asked to insert password. I'm sure password is right because I know it and EncFS desn't say me that password is wrong. After a second I can see "pending" in mounted column and after another second it comes back to "No" instead of "Yes". This issue happens only (but not always) when I start my PC from standby. Thanks for that hint. Seems to happen only when updating windows. I made a clean install of version 1709 (no update) and logged into onedrive. I never touched this setting. In my case it was already turned off by default.

Hm, for some reason, I just experienced this problem tonight. Luckily, the workaround which has you uncheck "Local drive" in the mount settings of EncFSMP works for me. Some details on my setup: Windows 7 Ultimate, EncFSMP v0.11.1.

Correct, it happended also in my using, and if the file move out of the onedrive folder,then move in again , the file will work well , but after the onedrive test the file,it fail again. may be some tag added by onedrive.and the file changed

@geoff thanks for the update. i did read this earlier in this thread and looked for the new ticket but couldn't find it. I didn't want to start one if it was already addressed elsewhere but hearing this from you now i will open a new ticket on the problem. I tried boxcryptor classic as well and it seems unbothered by whatever weird trick MS is doing with onedrive. EncFSMP is using different encfs settings and they don't seem to be able to share config files (even if i rename the config files). I...

Upgraded machine 2 to build 1709 - the same result. This problem seems to happend only with Pre-block HMAC or External IV drive options. So actually the drive I mentioned in the ticket used paranoia settings.

@Nello, RomanH suggested this is a specific problem with Onedrive and a new thread should be raised. I have been to busy with other issues to do this. I had a very quick retrye of the mapping fix and I agree it dose not work. I also use Boxcyptor Classic and it does work for that. I may have assummed that it would for encfsmp as the problem seamed the same.

Thank you for the ticket. However: There is only one timestamp, I documented this here, under "limitations": https://encfsmp.sourceforge.io/faq.html The same goes for the attributes Hidden and Archive The last point: To calculate the total size of all files is a lengthy process. When the user clicks on Properties, he/she expects a quick answer. That's why EncFSMP displays the used/empty space of the underlying drive. The second point is valid, this should somehow be possible. I will leave this ticket...

Hi, After few years I finally decide to upgrade from OS X Yosemite to High Sierra. I kept using Yosemite because of my BoxCryptor Classic volumes. I tried to use the new BoxCryptor, but it is completely useless with complex directories structures (too slow). But as some newer versions of my other favourite programs were not supported on Yosemite (like Forklift 3) I decided to upgrade. I just installed x64 0.11.1 on a new Windows 10 Computer. I have used the Open Existing EncFS option and can successfully mount the drive. However, when I go to open the mounted drive I get an access denied error message. On a different computer that I have that is working when I click on the Drive in File Explorer and then select Properties, I see a file system of pfmfs.encFSMP. On the new Windows 10 computer in the same location the file system is blank and it appears in File Explorer as Local...

Please check whether PFM has been installed. Go to Help -> About, there EncFSMP tells you whether it found PFM or not. If not, please reinstall.

I received a hotfix from PismoTec which should fix the issue. Please download the prelerease from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jZnTmkeJ1-9wQVNxQ-wD3bSb_GEGtK31 Installation of EncFSMP is not necessary, as it is still the same version. Install PFM as documented in the FAQ. Since PismoTec did not increase the build number, a reboot is required unfortunately. After positive feedback I will release this hotfix officially.

@RomanH Thanks for your effort and quick response. For testing purpose and to give you further feedback I updated today from 1703 to 1709 and switched to EncFSMP version 0.11.1. I can only say: It works! Thank you so much.

Hi Roman Unfortunately that doesn't seem to have fixed the issue. I ran the pfm uninstaller manually (pfm/pfm-190-encfsmp-mac.runpfm-190-encfsmp-mac.run -uninstall) and then the installer (same -install), dragged the new version of EncFSMP to Applications, rebooted, and the behaviour is as before - I can mount the volume but in Finder I only see a small subset of files. I can browse the directory tree normally from the command line.

The update seems to work fine when the source file is on a local hard drive, but it doesn’t work if the source is a OneDrive folder even if it is set to be permanently available. When I try to mount the drive I get the message that the encfs file does not exist. If I use and external encfs file on a normal hard drive folder I can mount the drive but all the files have zero size and cannot be mounted. MS are obviously doing some strange things with OneDrive. I noticed if you try to share a sub folder...
