After figuring out I have to start the two local web services manually, I'm now able to run the EF on a Windows XP host. Great work!
But how do I pass digtial objects (like a MS Word/DOS 5.x file) from the outside world (say, a Samba share) into the emulator?
I can successfully start (for example) DSLf or the dependency "MS Office Viewer -> DSL -> x86" - but what next, once DSL is up? The UG states on p. 4 "A virttual screen shows the digital item with original software of that time". How is the actual rendering of the object initialized? Does the EF set up a default communication volume (drive, floppy) for the outside world I have to mount manually?
The same question applies for MS-DOS executables: Qemu starts with just the default prompt on drive c:, but the file itself is not run.
Seems I'm still missing a critical step.
TIA
Heinz

If your Samba share is properly mounted, you should be able to see this share in the file explorer of the GUI (I've tested this yesterday on 2 of my home machines).
When DSL is started, a TXT file is automatically opened with instructions how to view the attached digital object (DO). We haven't been able to let this DO be mounted automatically.
An MS-DOS executable is attached as either a floppy (A:\) or, when more than 1.44 MB, an extra harddisk (D:\). This executable will not be automatically installed in MS-DOS (or Windows).
