Hi. The last time I installed emu10k1 was probably
before year 2002 on my Red Hat Linux 7.2 system. I am
having problems upgrading the driver with make install:

The driver was succefully compiled, now install it with:
make install

[ant@ANTux-P3 emu10k1-v0.19a]$ su
Password:
[root@ANTux-P3 emu10k1-v0.19a]# make install

The driver was succefully compiled, now install it with:
make install

mkdir -p
//lib/modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1
install -c -m 664 emu10k1.o
//lib/modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1
install -c -m 664 ac97_codec.o
//lib/modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/sound
/sbin/depmod -a 2.4.7-10
depmod: Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o
depmod:
Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/i2c-elektor.o
make: *** [install] Error 1

What did I do wrong? Am I supposed to do something for
upgrading from previous emul10k1 drivers? I tried to go
back to my old driver but it was too late because of
emu10k1.o and ac97_codec.o files. I am using a Pentium
III 600 Mhz with a Sound Blaster Live Plantinum (4.1;
without the LiveDrive installed)!

FYI, [root@ANTux-P3 emu10k1-v0.19a]# uname -a
Linux ANTux-P3 2.4.7-10 #1 Thu Sep 6 17:27:27 EDT 2001
i686 unknown

Thank you in advance [grumbles at no music, no DVDs,
and no games in Linux!]
. :(

    I did more experiments:

    1) I tried both of the older versions of emu10k1 from
    SourceForge.net site, but they ended up with the same exact
    errors.

    2) I played with the depmod command. Hopefully, it will give
    more clues to you guys to diagnose the problem:

    /sbin/depmod -ae 2.4.7-10

    depmod: Unresolved symbols in
    /lib/modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o
    depmod: kernel_flag
    depmod:
    Unresolved symbols in
    /lib/modules/2.4.7-10/misc/i2c-elektor.o
    depmod: global_cli
    depmod:
    global_sti

    I also have attached a text/log file when using /sbin/depmod
    -an.

    P.S. I am running depmod v2.4.13 in case that makes any
    difference. ;)

    I tried playing with the Kernel's .config as suggested
    someone on the newsgroup, but that didn't help. I am
    exploring inusing ALSA tore place emu10k1 drivers.
