No

Ever since I started using the digital out of my
sblive card, the sound would skip sometimes. Not often
though, maybe once an hour or so. Is use xmms 1.2.6 to
play my audio files. Is there an issue with the
digital out? This never happens with the analog out.
Thanks.

Playback(were skipping usually occurs) and signal routing
are seperate enties. Its very doubtfull that switching to
digital mode causes skipping, r atleast it wouldn't be the
    drivers fault.

Perhaps you have a bad connection to the speakers, or
there's a hardware problem with the digital out on the card,
    or with the speakers.

Its possible that the skipping is your receiver trying to
resync to the bitstream, although, that shouldn't be
    happening either :)

I'm experiencing the same problem, but it started before I got my SB Live.
System is Slackware 8.0/2.4.17. SB Live digital out to 5.1 receiver.
Every 20-60 seconds or so there's a chirp caused by an interruption in the
signal somewhere. It is not hardware, because the exact same system works
fine under Windoze. My old SB16 started having this problem (which was
partially why I got the Live card) but with analog is sounded like a brief
(10 milliseconds or so) dropout in the sound. Happens with any PCM source
(xmms, sox...) Disk activity often makes the hickups more frequent.
Drive is plenty fast (40BG ultra ATA) as is processor (K6II350) and system
is not heavily loaded. Not sure when it started exactly, but it must be in
the kernel somewhere. I've tried recompiling with different options
here and there but no luck so far.

I don't mean to be stupid or anything like that, but I recently
got my new Linux SUSE 9.0 and I can't seem to figure out
how to get the sound output off of digital. I am constantly
hearing this loud hiss is the background. I am using a PCI
version of SB LIVE! 5.1. Can anyone help?
