#1 Status changed to NULL

I have been mucking about trying to customize empris
for my needs and have screwed something up somewhere.

When I save an application, either from userEditApp.php
or from the admin's editApp.php the status field gets
changed to NULL.

I can reset the status back by listing all apps, then
changing the status in the runsheet, but every time I
hit the 'save changes' button on either of those two
forms the status goes to NULL

I can't see where I made the error. Which part of the
program is responsible for changing the status when
save is clicked? At least if I know where to start
looking, finding the mistake will be easier.
