Good Day! Hi! Im using Emilda 1.2.3 as part of my thesis in Perfromance Analysis of Open Source Library Management Systems. I installed it, and I managed to run the index.php in a browser. Its my first time to use the Emilda, so I'm not aware of its features. Nice interface. Some LMS I encountered were easy to use, by just clicking the button you can now upload MARC data. But this Emilda is different. Anyways, I wanted to upload MARC data but I don't know how. I searched every interface of the Emilda, but I can't find instructions/buttons on how to uplaod MARC. Does my problem has something to do with Zebra? Im using zsqlgate as Z39.50 server for other LMS, does it also works on Emilda? As much as possible I don't want to use Zebra since my constant variable in my experiment is zsqlgate. In case I will use Zebra, I would have to use it on other LMS involved in my experiment. That would be tedious. I'm using Fedora Core 2 as my platform. My programs running in my Linux: Apache 2.2.0 PHP 4.4.2 (with YAZ) Zsqlgate 0.11 (as Z39.50 server) MySQL 4.1.18 PERL with Net::Z3950, DBD::mysql, MARC::Record, GD::Barcode By the way, Im a newbie in programming. I manage to install those programs by just following the documentations/manuals, and its very very hard for a newbie like me to install them. I hope you guys can help me. Thank you very much Archie Galo archie_updiliman_zeus@yahoo |

Thanks Mattias, That was the solution. I think it may be worthwhile to include this info in the zebra compile section as the required compile order not is obvious. /Pontus -----Original Message----- From: emi...@li... Hi, =20 I have Emilda up and running on a Suse 10.0 machine with one minor? issue; adding books fail. When I press the Accept button in the book_add.php script the following shows up in my apache log: =20 [Wed May 10 07:48:48 2006] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i586-linux-thread-multi/auto/IDZebra/IDZe bra.so: undefined symbol: zebra_start, referer: http://localhost/book_add.php?id=3D1251281881&auth=3D463eb784096a2de7ef76b8c fe8808854&stage=3D2&any=3D&020=3D013089592X&10=3D&245=3D&submit=3DSearch [Wed May 10 07:48:48 2006] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: MARC.pl, referer: http://localhost/book_add.php?id=3D1251281881&auth=3D463eb784096a2de7ef76b8c fe8808854&stage=3D2&any=3D&020=3D013089592X&100=3D&245=3D&submit=3DSearch =20 Any help with deciphering this output is highly appreciated. When it comes to the installation process I have followed the steps outlined in the file ./doc/index.html of Emilda 1.2.3 to the best of my ability. I have verified that my zebra server is up and running and that nothing strange is output in the zebra log file. =20 =20 Regards, =20 Pontus Astrom To access the latest news from CSR copy this link into a web browser: http= ://www.csr.com/email_sig.php |

Hi Wolfgang, Thanks for your help on this previously - i'm only just getting back to working on it. Wolfgang Pichler wrote: > ... >>2. Subject (MARC record type 653) on the add/edit book screens. I've added it in the MARC configuration screen, but obviously this is not enough because immediately this gives the warning: "NOTE! The field must also be defined as searchable in Zebra configurations." And then when i go to search newly-defined fields, i get: "Notice: Undefined index: 010 in /usr/share/emilda/lib/search.inc on line 215" How can i define the index to idzebra? I've looked in the Zebra documentation for information about this, but it's extremely confusing to me - it seems you have to be an expert in text indexing systems just to do basic configuration with Zebra. I'd like to do the same with LCC numbers so i can use them for adding books the same way ISBN works. > ... >>4. Browsing by subject area. When i say browsing, i mean looking through records as if i was looking at books on the shelf. I'd like to be able to just click through my entire collection sorted by Dewey number or by subject heading. -- Paul <http://paulgear.webhop.net> -- Did you know? Hello, Emilda looks promising, but I am still wondering if it is the right=20 product for us. We have a small library (5000 books?) in our department and I had,=20 until shortly, a web application I made myself on top of a cms=20 (tikiwiki). It broke after a system upgrade, and I think it is time to=20 go to something more 'universal'... I installed and checked Emilda, but I still have a couple of questions. = I am not a librarian myself, I am just the person who has to find a=20 solution for the library. Some things I have to be able to do: - import all books to the new system (solved by hacking MARC.pl in=20 Emilda, but I still need some correspondance from my db to MARC). - having a couple of custom fields showing up in the page where we can=20 add new books manually or edit existing books. How can I do this? We=20 have things like local classification code, ... - users should be able to check out books themselves. They don't have=20 to pay, but they have to be able to tell they took a book. Same for=20 bringing them back. Any help greatly appreciated, I am trying to close this problem but I=20 can't seem to move forward :-( --=20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yannick Majoros http://www.inma.ucl.ac.be/~majoros Informaticien UCL/INMA-MEMA 4, avenue G.
