If all you want is a VNC type projection of the GUI AND you have the network bandwidth to support it, then no, you don't need rcslib. If you want to reduce N/W bandwidth, or you want to use some of the other features that rcslib *can* provide, then you do need it. The applications that rcslib lends itself to are limited only by your imagination.
