Most of these ideas are going to require a significant amount of computing horsepower and I think that the Embedded Java hardware that we have been working with for the past few years will meet this demand excellently. The GlobalLightBlinker project is just a simple first step towards this larger goal but we need to start somewhere and this seems like an excellent place to start.
