I think (despite others protests) that PLCs's are a terrifically natural embedlet application. I have said before PLC ladder logic is actually deceptively object orientated in its concept, are componentised with well defined interfaces, have a large market and user base familiar with using graphical tools to view their solutions, .. and are ONLY just starting to standardise and their efforts to do so, as encapsulated into an XML document help us understand the problem domain and solutions to problems we haven't even yet thought about. I think PLC's are a rich field for embedlet's. Also could prove to be an easy marketing target - demo to existing PLC manufacturers looking for a competitive advantage. Of course, the downside is well established solutions doing a darn fine, well tested and do the job. The question is what do we do that they don't do already? that would be compelling enough to switch or suplement their solution space.
