Hi Bob, This error has been known to pop up every now and then. You are right that it's not connected to emacs, it's a vr.exe problem. The problem has not been reproducible, I saw it once myself but reinstalling DNS and rerunning dnsrdk fixed it. I just tried running dnsrdk on my XP Pro machine, and I got a dialog telling me to reboot my computer when it had finished. If you're not seeing that it's possible that it's not working right. I have no reports of VR Mode either working or failing under DNS 8, so I guess it's also not entirely impossible version 8 has broken something. (I'm running 6.1 since that's the last version that works correctly with my X windows.) sorry I don't have more info. I don't suppose you have a DNS <8 you can try with? Reports of running VR Mode with DNS 8 (failure or success) from other users would be interesting. /Patrik Bob Davison wrote: > Hi, > > I am trying to install VR Mode and all seems well until I try to > activate it and then I get a dialog > > Couldn't create DgnEngineControl object (0x80004002) > > I get this on a WinXP machine with DNS 8 and a Win98 machine with DNS > 5 so I seem to be consistently doing something wrong. > > I am using Emacs 21 although VR Mode says it doesn't work so well with > it.
