You may have noticed that the GITTA webserver has been down for the last
two weeks. The reason for this outage was a hacker intrusion using a
known vulnerability in mysqlphpadmin. Tools for disseminating spam and
attacking other servers were installed in many locations. Therefore, we
had to reinstall the machine from scratch. So, the good news is that the
server is now running again. Please notice the following implications of
- Teaching material: We have restored it from the content of the CVS
server. Since we had to re-translate the representations (HTML, PDFs,
IMS, SCORM) from the original XML files, you might check your modules
quickly before you use them in your class.
- Passwords: Even though the intruders probably weren't able to gain
root privileges, we have changed all passwords. The passwords for the
internal area of the website were set to 'aiK8oi6u' for all users (you
cannot change the password by yourself, yet). Please contact me if you
need sftp access to the web directory.
- Version rating: The tool is offline until further notice.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
