Description
3D map viewer for your hiking trips.
The 3D maps are rendered in OpenGL by combining map tiles from various sources with elevation data.

Current features:
• View online/offline maps in 3D;
• Download map areas for offline use;
• View offline maps downloaded with Mobile Atlas Creator (MOBAC) (atlas format: OSMAND tile storage);
• View Mapsforge maps;
• Import and view OziExplorer maps;
• Attach elevations for current downloaded maps;
• Track recording;
• Track builder;
• Import/Export of tracks in KML format;
• Statistics (altitude, speed, distance);
• Use elevation data in SRTM3 format.

Online maps can be switched via 'Maps' -> 'Online Maps'.

Offline maps can be stored using the activity 'Download Map Area' (via 'Maps' button -> 'Download Map Area'). Once stored, they can be loaded via Menu -> 'Offline Maps' or buttons-bar 'Adm Maps' -> 'Offline Maps'.

Map atlases assembled with 'MOBAC' shall be preloaded under path 'sdcard/elevmaps/maps'. Then, they can be accessed within app via Menu -> 'Offline Maps' or buttons-bar 'Maps' -> 'Offline Maps'.

Mapsforge maps

Shall be preloaded under the path 'sdcard/elevmaps/maps'. Then, they can be accessed within app via 'Maps' button -> 'Offline Maps'.
The default render theme set is osmarender. You can switch on other render theme via 'Maps' button -> 'Render Theme'.
They are localized under the path 'sdcard/elevmaps/render_themes' and can be replaced with others by your needs.

OziExplorer maps

Should be preloaded first under the path 'sdcard/elevmaps/imports' (the image file and calibration map file). Then you can import them via an internal special designed activity accessed by menu app: 'Maps' button -> 'Import Ozi Maps'. Just select the check-box attached to internal map label and press the button 'Start Import'. Leave the import activity to do its job (a progress bar indicates processing).
Once imported you can load and use it from 'Offline Maps' list ('Maps' button -> 'Offline Maps').
Note: For now only image formats are supported.

Elevation data

Is required for rendering the maps in 3D. It is dispatched from files containing SRTM data in HGT format.
The app downloads them from http://www.usgs.gov/. Unfortunately, some mountain and desert areas there are no-data (so called voids). So, on map these areas looks odd. To avoid this, you could replace the original files with enhanced ones (voids are filled using some interpolation algorithms); for more details and explanations see http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org). You have to download them and replace the files with voids manually.
The activity used to attach elevation data for offline maps is 'Attach Elevations' (via 'Maps' -> 'Attach Elevations').
For online maps they are downloaded automatically by app depending of focused map area (starting with level 11).
Note: Elevation files are shared between the existent maps.

Tracks

Must be in KML or GPX format and should be preloaded under the path 'sdcard/elevmaps/tracks'. They can be seen within app using the activity 'Load Tracks' accessed by 'Tracks' button -> 'Load Tracks'. You can select one or more tracks and then, clicking on the 'Load button', you can see it/them on the map.

Tracks can be recorded using the action 'Tracks' button -> 'Start Track'. When you want to finish recording and store the track just select 'Tracks' button -> 'Save Track'. You'll be asked to name it. After confirmation the track will be saved as KML file inside the folder 'tracks'.

Other notes

Use Menu -> 'My Location' to see your position on the map.
It can be stopped temporary via Menu -> 'Stop Location' in order to preserve the battery power.
