I may not have much time, but I wanted to split off local chat, and make it configurable. The configuration file should contain patterns of player names and messages, and a list of possible responses to these messages. Dunno how I'll do it yet, but that was my plan. As for your points: moving will require a pathfinder, maybe the client pathfinder can be ripped out. I'm not gonna work on trading code yet, but the messaging system sounds like a fun thing to have.
