As for moving, that's quite simple...all we need to do is support typedef actor and add_actor_command to keep track of the bot's position...The pathfinder should port easily. Also, I think a queue would be nice so we can have the bot complete multiple actions on a timed basis. Since the client is pretty much done, I'll probably have time to write a patch for this. >From: "G.W.M. I may not have much time, but I wanted to split off local chat, and make it configurable. The configuration file should contain patterns of player names and messages, and a list of possible responses to these messages. Dunno how I'll do it yet, but that was my plan. As for your points: moving will require a pathfinder, maybe the client pathfinder can be ripped out. I'm not gonna work on trading code yet, but the messaging system sounds like a fun thing to have. No other ideas yet, Grum > What features should go into elbot before 0.3 is released? What features should go into elbot before 0.3 is released? I've been thinking about the following: Move Command: I've already kinda started on this, although I have not been able to get it to work yet. It's kinda over my head still. Simple trading framework: Mostly I would like to be able to have the bot hold the owners stuff and give it back to him. After that we can move on to more complicated things like trading with others. Messaging system: It would be neat to have the bot save messages for people. When the bot sees that person it would pm them something like "I have # saved message(s) for you. PM me with #my_msgs to read them" This sounds kind of complicated since we would need some kind of storage system for the messages. I'd say if we can implement 2 of these features we would be justified in bumping the version number to 0.3. Any other ideas? Bipolar |

You now have CVS access, so feel free to apply the command line input patches. It should function so that if an options from the command line override the config file. Make sure it doesn't change the way the config file works. Bipolar |

Sounds good. :) You're 10 times the programmer I am. There are still things in the bot that I have not been able to wrap my head around. Just look at the crap I'm trying to pull to add movement commands. :) Please try to comment your code as much as possible so I can learn from it. As a matter of fact, I should go though and comment more on the things I did. Bipolar On Wednesday 18 August 2004 05:05 am, G.W.M. Test passed :) Anyway, I'm thinking about splitting off a few more files from the main bot: connection.[ch] for everything to do with sending to/receiving from the server, and local.[ch] which shall handle everything in local chat. For the time being, these files will be small, but I expect especially local.c to grow substantially over time. Splitting it off now keeps the main code clean and small. Comments? Suggestions?
