I notice that with linux (debian) efax-gtk installs quite a few loose files in my ~/. and ~/ directories. In the past I've found that unless I exercise some control over the dozens and dozens of programs that I install, my home directory starts to look like a teenagers bedroom.
Do any users have any advice, other than installing from source, on how to install to a ~/efax or ~/.efax-gtk subdirectory or something similar? I notice that $HOME/ configures prominantly in the pathname that the various programs seek. For example,
is there any way to change the value of $HOME locally to ~/efax/ ?
All advice appreciated,
a.

If you go to you $HOME/.efax-gtkrc configuration file, there is a WORK_SUBDIR: option available for this purpose. If you use the mail_fax or print_fax scripts, you will have to set the option there as well.
