I just upgraded to efax 3.0.4 and everything compiled fine for me. I'm running Slackware 10.1. I used checkinstall to create a Slackware package. The compiled efax-gtk package it created is 536 Kb.
I don't do too much faxing, but it's nice to have a fax program available when I need it. Thanks.
