Ashwini,
interesting email. I'll make my observation below referring to points in =
your email
1. Right. That, I think, is better explained in the Architecture section =
that I've added to the new version of the Vision document. Pls Piotr, =
can you add these new thing to the project site to better describe our =
product?
2. Use case U1 (ref 2.23) states about the addition of a new document to =
the repository (archives has been definitely substituted with repository =
in every section of the document - read the new revision). The idea is =
that administrator grants user/group access to a repository and =
access/read/write permission to the folders of that repository for the =
user/group that can access that repository . This can be done during the =
group definition/update process or during the document repository update =
definition process. I've not considered the idea to give also =
permissions to single files but it's a good idea.
3. Right. The eDocs administrator can do that. Another idea that we can =
implement could be to have a sort of "group's administrator" that can =
assign grants to the users that are parts of hisgroup. This could be =
useful to delegate some system administration tasks to a sort of =
reference person in the department. For example the project manager in a =
certain project has been granted to assign permission to all and only =
his project team members because they are all part of an eDocs group for =
wich he has been elected by the eDocs administrator to be the group =
administrator.
3a. The "native" integration with the Microsoft system will be done =
using Web Services technology. The idea is to build a plug-in that can =
be used in the system from an appropriate menu. So during the design of =
the objects that will take data back and forth from the system =
repository we need to think about writing a generic interface that will =
be implemented by two classes. The first will deal with the web UI stuff =
and the second with web services for integration with the MS platform. =
In our team Anton der Welt is our Microsoft platform expert and he'll =
investigate, design and implement everything needed to have that =
integration working on MS side. In any case it could be also interesting =
the idea to have an integration with windows explorer that let the =
document management system be seen like a shared drive. Anton can you =
investigate more about the possibility to do that?
4. Agree. You forget Reader and now, if we consider to implement the new =
vision at point 3, we have also a Group Administrator
5. The access methods to the eDocs systems are by using the web =
interface or using the direct integration with MS Office (we hope it =
will be possible to do also Windows Explorer integration). Apart from =
the method we'll use to physically access documents a search methodology =
is an interesting and open issue that need cleared. Can you investigate =
about that write a document with your own proposal about that and share =
it with the team?=20
Regards
Sergio

Hello all,=20
I finally got to read the full document. Here are the points which we =
can discuss to understand the requirements a little better. Please tell =
me if the assumptions below are right or wrong.=20
1. There is zero or more archives in the eDocs system. An archive =
contains zero or more folders and folders contain zero or more =
documents.=20
2. Administrator can assign users rights to a folder and not to =
individual documents. Ref 2.23=20
3. Can the administrator assign read, modify and delete rights to =
groups with regards to folders and documents?=20
3a. In order to access documents through MS office, the archive must =
be mapped to a drive on the client. Ref 2.31 . And the archive folder =
hierarchy must be visible from MS Office. So will there be any other way =
to access the archive other than HTTP? Sorry, just curious, I know this =
is just requirement stage and I am jumping to implementation.=20
4. Based on the System requirement document, I have made a list of =
actors in the system. They are Administrator, User, Group, Approver and =
Editor=20
5. Presently the selection of documents is based on a set of masks. =
The latest research in universities focus on not just access to =
documents but their relevancy as well which means machine understanding =
of content, observation of context, and instructive mediation between =
message provider and message recipient. In our case, the message is =
provided by our client in MS office to eDocs system. Basically it =
amounts to a more sophisticated document search technique. So, do we =
need to make any investigation in this area?=20
Thanks, I look forward to contributing more to use case document and =
more.=20

Hi Razi,
you're questions are correct. The answers are contained in a =
document =3D
that I'll send today to the team.=3D20
I'm sorry but I'm very busy at work during these days and I wasn't =

to complete it for last friday.=3D20
Sorry also for the misunderstanding created with the terms =
repository =3D
and archive. The truth is that they are the same thing.=3D20
So I'll correct the doc immediately to clear that problem.
If you have other problems about comprehension of the document =
please =3D
tell me because the idea is also to build a little glossary=3D20

Hello Good People,
=3D20
I had some questions/clarifications from the requirement doc.
=3D20
* Is a repository the same as an archive?
=3D20
* Is it correct to state that a archive contains , folders and =
folders =3D
are made up of documents.
=3D20
* A document after having been created in the archive, does that =
make =3D
it a published document or is publishing a document another process.
=3D20
* Restoration of docs, does it mean restoration after backup only or =
=3D
after deletion also.
=3D20
