I renecently received an email requesting support. Unfortunately my email replies are bounced back to me: So if the person in question is dropping by the site here's an answer:

I haven't tested using OpenJDK as I have had issues with it in the past and stopped using it.

Try downloading the Oracle Java SDK from here:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html

Let me know how you go. The SCSI interfacing via Lakai is the critical bit. I have a few issues using my SCSI interface with my Akai. It will be interesting to see how you go. I haven't had any feedback before.... read more

For many years my sampler sat on a shelf unused as the display backlighting had stopped working. It was an expensive piece of kit and for a clueless working lad from the southern suburbs of Adelaide it was very expensive. I actually took out a personal loan from the bank to buy it! It was used for many years, just me on my own, as other people from working class land hated electronic music or were getting into the most low quality versions of it going. Most of my friends just grimaced at my compositions. It was very disheartening and some of them weren't bad at all (compared to some of the dross that was being commercialised). Eventually I moved on to using what ever was available in Linux. It was slim pickings in terms of software synths! One day whilst surfing the net, I got nostalgic and decided to visit some akai pages I hadn't bothered with for years. I discovered that there was a fix for the backlight issue and that it was possible to get memory upgrades. So I decided to ressurrect my sampler.... read more
