Initial Comment:
I posted about this on EclipseZone.com's forum and they helped me trace it to a missing method in the GNU implementation of GCJ... I'm wondering if it would be possible to use a different method (they tell me it's a meethod in the class java.beans.Introspector called getBeanInfo).  Here's the link to the thread:

If this isn't an option, then maybe something in the Readme might be appropriate to help people find and install an alternate JRE.  I am unfortunately not very Java-savvy (though I want to be) and have as of yet not figured out a fix to this.

The readme has a statement about configuring JRE's already.  Also the
newest version of GCJ and sun's JRE now both work correctly with eclipse.
