I've been idly wondering about the ability to be able to execute an arbitrary java code fragment against the active DB connection. The reason it came to mind is that not for the first time, I want to pull the code for all stored procedures out of the database in order to compare them against the current versions in source control. This is a non-trivial task in SQL, but relatively straightforward in 3GL code. As this is something I feel the need to do periodically (maybe once a year) it would be useful to have the code available to be rerun.
I guess my question is, is this something that is more generally useful or is it only me that wants this ability. If its just me, I'll just create a database specific patch for it which I can reapply as new versions are released. If it may be more generally useful, I ought to think about a more elegant solution.
