I've been using SQLExplorer for over a year and really like it... but that's been with MSSQL and mySQL.  Now I'm trying to connect to Oracle 9i, but I'm not having any luck.

I downloaded the ojdbc14.jar file and setup the driver with the appropriate classpath and sample url.  When I try to connect, the error returned is "cannot connect to dbname/username, check your URL."  This is the url I'm using:

    jdbc:derby://servername.com:1529/DBNAME

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks!

    Rob

That's not an oracle JDBC URL, it's for Apache Derby!  The Oracle thin URL should look like:

          jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server>:1521:<database_name>
