I am trying to make a connection using Eclipse to connect to a MS Access database on my local machine. Is it possible with Eclipse?

  You can use the JDBC/ODBC-Bridge Driver which is normaly preconfigured in SQL-Explorer.
  Setup an ODBC Source to your MS-Access DB and then configure a connection using the JDBC/ODFBC-Bridge Driver.
