Hi all, I'm having difficulties launching midlets in debug mode. I've configured the Debug settings as directed on the web page, but after a few seconds, the WTK crashes. Running the same launch configuration works fine. --> How can I get more information/log statements ? --> How is the WTK launched and where are the settings defined (port, JDK, ..) ? Any hints appreciated :-) Diego (digging into the source now) ENVIRONMENT: ============= - Eclipse 3.4 - openSUSE 11.0 (32-bit) -java version "1.6.0_07", Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06), Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 10.0-b23, mixed mode) CONSOLE OUTPUT ================ Connecting to 127.0.0.1 on port 2800 Waiting for debugger on port 54526 Waiting for KVM... I just added a link to the EclipseME project from the "Java Platform, Micro Edition" article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J2me There was no such link before, although there already was a link to NetBeans. The EclipseME article has previously been requested. I don't know enough to write the article (to say the least) but it would be great if someone knowledgeable put up at least a skeletal description, even if the content is recycled from another webpage. -- Alison Chaiken (650) 279-5600 (cell) http://www.exerciseforthereader.org/ Poverty denotes a lack of necessities and simplicity a lack of needs. -- Dervla Murphy, _Full Tilt_ |

Yeah, it's definitely a device issue. I used just icon.png (not /icon.png) and same build shows on some devices and not on some other devices. Too bad. Sandin is right, of course - the resources beyond ./res will be copied to the root of the jar, so res/icon.png can be accessed by "icon.png" - in my projects I do not use /icon.png, just icon.png. On WTK you must put the / before the icon name. I believe that the folder res is not created in the deployed jar file. Could be the device problem. I remember seeing the app icon in Sprint/RAZR a while back. But since I changed the Eclipse configuration so many times, I don't remember the right config. The device I am testing now is Sprint/LG 550 (Fusic). Under Application folder, some other commercial apps do have icon displayed (but not ... ours.) It could be dependent of what phone you use. Some phones do not display icons that do not have the correct size. A size of 48x48 has worked on many devices for me. On what phones did you test? Bingo !! For whatever reason, it was indeed set to 1.5, so changing down to 1.3 did it, works like a charm now :-) Thanks Craig, Diego On Monday 08 September 2008 05:57:52 Craig Setera wrote: > I've seen this in the past if the code you are trying to preverify is > compiled by a compiler that is too new... I've seen this in the past if the code you are trying to preverify is compiled by a compiler that is too new... Make sure that you are compiling with the oldest compiler target level possible. One other point... I looked at the second link. The guy there does not try..catch the stuff in the startApp(). Try using a try...catch(Throwable t) in that method. Hi Jamie, somewhere in the configuration you can specify which Java Compliance you'd like. I chosed "1.3", because some time ago I had problems with some phones. I never had such problems on my N95. But on a 6233, an exception was thrown when calling repaint(), that could never be fetched. The problem was that I was trying to draw an empty string ("", not null!). But that should not be the case, as you said it runs with netbeans. Maybe that can help you. Greetings, Markus Jamie Allen schrieb: > hi there, > > i've been sorting through a bunch of old examples of java me projects, > and have been running into a fairly consistent error with the n95. > compiled programs deployed on the phone always generate an uncaught > exception error. i've not been able to find the actually exception, and > there's a few other reports of similar behavior out there. > > http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138599 > > http://saloon.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=41&t=004761 > <http://saloon.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=41&t=004761> > > that last link pointed me to trying to compile the same code in > netbeans, and it worked like a charm - runs fine. anyone have a similar > story to tell? anyone find a fix? confusing as both dev environments > are looking at the same toolkit? > > thanks > -j > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > _______________________________________________ > Eclipseme-users mailing list > Ecl...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/eclipseme-users -- ********************************* si...@ps... http://www.psitronic.de psitronic IT-Solutions Markus Sinner W-Rathenau-Str. 14 - 68642 Bürstadt Tel.: (+49)6206 / 963513 Fax: (+49)6206 / 963514 |

Maybe it has something to do with the compiler level. Put the compiler level of the project to 1.4. Maybe that helps. When you examin the trace from the exception do you have any idea which part of the code is causing it? hi there, i've been sorting through a bunch of old examples of java me projects, and have been running into a fairly consistent error with the n95. compiled programs deployed on the phone always generate an uncaught exception error. i've not been able to find the actually exception, and there's a few other reports of similar behavior out there. http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138599 http://saloon.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi? ubb=get_topic&f=41&t=004761 that last link pointed me to trying to compile the same code in netbeans, and it worked like a charm - runs fine. anyone have a similar story to tell? anyone find a fix? confusing as both dev environments are looking at the same toolkit? thanks -j |

Hi, I am not able to use //#condition directive, while preprocessing. I want to exclude few files from compilation. I am using //#condition [expression ] on top of the file .But still, when i do the build(using eclipse), it still compiles these files and puts them in .processed directory. I have defined [expression] as a symbol and value is false. ..Any pointers ? Best Regards Amit Aggarwal |

Sorry all... I have been buried and have not had time to get 1.8.0 buttoned up and out the door... the testversions link is the best way to go for Eclipse 3.4 support at this point.
