For all subscribers. Thanks so much for sticking with me and the EclipseME project. Given that EclipseME has officially grown into the Eclipse Mobile Tools for Java project, I believe it makes more sense to shut down this list at this time. I would urge all current EclipseME users to make the switch to the MTJ project. I think you will find it pleasantly familiar, but also much more polished. The MTJ project web site can be found at http://www.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/ . Information on joining the user's newsgroup can be found at http://www.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/news.php . I will leave the archives of this mailing list on Sourceforge for those that may come across a need, but I'm going to close membership and disallow sending of new messages. I will also leave http://eclipseme.org up and running for its historical content. I will continue to be involved in the Eclipse MTJ project and you can also track my related blog entries at the new address http://www.setera.org/category/eclipse/mtj/ Thanks again! Craig |

It does seem somewhat redundant to maintain this 'deprecated' mailing list here, I guess, yes. On Thu, 18 Jun 2009 08:29:12 pm Craig Setera wrote: > I'd much rather see everyone make the move over to the MTJ > support group. > > Thoughts? > > Craig |

Folks Relating to this "getting started" thread: I don't know if this is of any use, but I have documented the process of installing, testing the whole tool chain (Java, Eclipse, WTK, MTJ), writing the first MIDlet etc. http://www.acutetechnology.com/projects/J2ME/index This is because I wanted to record how I had done it for my own future reference (so I didn't have to go back to basics on a new installation) and in the hope that it might be of help to others. I am also accumulating tutorials on other subjects that I am intested in: NFC, Java Card, and the motorola G24 embedded computer. It is not complete, but possibly a useful start. Hello, I do not recommend installing EclipseMe with Ganymede since it has given me a weeks of painful experiences. I recommend DSDP - Mobile Tools for Java (http://www.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/)which is a really good plug in for eclipse. It is mentioned in the Eclipse me website too.(http://eclipseme.org/) regarding your first question; If you want to run two eclipse runtimes, yes... you can run them in two different work spaces AND you can use the same workspace as long as you do not run both eclipse versions at the same time as well. for the second question If you want to use EclipseMe still visit (http://eclipseme.org/)...It is easy.. So enjoy. ~Tharanga Wijethilake ________________________________ From: Kusuma Pabba <ku...@nc...> To: ecl...@li... Yup, actually I was using MTJ. I just thought EclipseME was a more descriptive name to call this plugin by. The issue was resolved although I'm not sure what fixed it. I installed WTK in addition to the Java Platform Micro Edition Software Development Kit 3.0 even though I don't think this is needed. Also, I created a new project instead of importing my old one. I recall having tried creating a new project before, and it didn't work. I'm not sure why this time it worked... Have you tried MTJ yet? Given that MTJ is the follow on to EclipseME and has a number of bug fixes, I would suggest you start there. Hello, I have just finished installing and setting up EclipseME, but when I try to debug a simple applications, breakpoints are never hit. The app runs fine though. This seems similar to the symptoms shown here: http://www.mail-archive.com/ecl...@li.../msg00037.html I have modified the debug options accordingly, but breakpoints still aren't hit. The source line numbers is also correct checked. I read somewhere that there may be issues if my JVM is 1.6 while I am debugging an app targeting 1.3, could this be the case? |

I'm sorry, but I don't have an answer for you. You may try a group not focused on EclipseME, since this doesn't appear to be a problem with the tools. You might also want to try using a newer version of the Java ME toolkit. I am using eclipseme with Eclipse3.3(ganymede) and It was working fine without much problems. but since couple of days it gives me the java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: fi/oulu/media/photoView/Manager at com.sun.midp.midlet.MIDletState.createMIDlet(+29) at com.sun.midp.midlet.Scheduler.schedule(+52) at com.sun.midp.main.Main.runLocalClass(+28) at com.sun.midp.main.Main.main(+80) exception, where Manager is the main midlet in my project. Since this started happening only recently I was sure of the fact that this could be some sort of a configuration error and then I realize that the jar file that should be created in the .eclipseme.tmp folder is created but when I extracted the jar file it had only a META-INF file in it and in the verified/classes folder there were no any classes. but the compiled classes are there in the bin folder. I tried deleting the project and creting a new project and then it keeps asking for the .eclipseme.tmp folder and this did not work either. then I uninstalled the whole eclipse me plugin and installed it from the beginning and then it started working but after running it once it went to give me the same exception again. then I changed the compilation level to 1.3 since the compilation leval in the .seetings/org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs folder was 1.3 and I have java 1.6 running on my PC just make sure whether it is the matter which was not. It would be a great help If anyone could assist me in this. Thanks in advance to who ever can assist me.... -- Tharanga Wijethilake ________________________________ New Email names for you! Sent: Monday, February 16, 2009 11:50:08 Subject: [Eclipseme-users] ClassNotFoundException EcliplseME + Configaration Problem Hi, Sorry for the repost but I used the wrong email address priviously.....
