All, We use a CIFS mounted share/volume which is served by a Network Appliance file server. I can get to my files from all of the labs, offices and classrooms on campus. When we used the server with a Mac, we ran into file locking problems. I use a Mac and have kept my workspace on my desktop. That works fine. In the classroom, on windows, we had intermittent problems with file locking and losing preferences. The students reported other problems. Many of their problems were due to improper settings. I finally ended up logging onto my machine and using vim for editing. Eclipsefp works well if I do not use the server. I'm exploring using samba and hosting workspace on a single machine in my office. My students will use it when they need to give a class presentation of just as another place to store files. We will also be using svn. I do not know how eclipse works with java here. I haven't used anything except Haskell for more than 7 years. Stuck? If anyone has any suggestions for me please post them or send me an email. Any word on the new hIDE? I can't find a place to download it. I hope we will be using eclipse in all of our classes. Soon Thanks, Walt |
